CT Governor Announces 60 Grace Period for Some Insurance Premium Payments

Gov. Ned Lamont announced that there will be a 60-day grace period for property/casualty, and health insurance policyholders unable to pay their premiums due to the impact of COVID-19. During the grace period, insurance companies will be unable to cancel the policy for nonpayment. Exact orders about this grace period have not yet been released. PIACT will share further guidance from the Connecticut Insurance Department when it becomes available. The CID previously recommended insurers provide a grace period for nonpayment of insurance premiums. New York also implemented this 60-day grace period.
